    Public Consultation

npower renewables is keen to ensure that local people are both informed about the proposal, and given an opportunity to have questions answered and ideas or suggestions addressed, before the design of the wind farm is completed and the planning application submitted.

As such a public consultation process takes place and aims to:

  • Provide background information about npower renewables and wind energy
  • Describe our proposals for the Batsworthy Cross Wind Farm site and outline the potential environmental effects associated with the development
  • Encourage comments, suggestions and feedback on the proposal
  • Provide information on the consultation process

As part of this public consultation stage, npower renewables has been mailing a newsletter to local residents. This newsletter has information about the proposal as well as wider issues, such as climate change and energy efficiency, which are relevant to renewable energy debate.

In addition to the newsletter, npower renewables has been meeting with local residents on a one to one basis as well as through public meetings. Further more a 2 day public exhibition was held to give the local community the opportunity to see just how the site would look if constructed. Friends of the Earth as well as npower's Energy Efficiency Services team were also on hand to give people the chance to learn more about climate change, renewable energy and energy efficiency. The exhibition took place on:

  • Saturday 26th November 2005 from 10am to 4pm
    Bishops Nympton Village Hall
  • Sunday 27th November 2005 from 10am to 4pm
    Bishops Nympton Village Hall

The exhibition was a huge success, and despite the cold and snowy weather around 300 people attended over the weekend.

As the development progresses further consultation will take place and we will be keeping all involved - watch this space.
