Education and Energy Efficiency
Energy is now a significant part of the curriculum in schools; how it
is generated; how it is used and how resources can be conserved. At many
of our more accessible sites, we are pleased to be able to assist neighbouring
schools who wish to visit their local wind farm as a complement to classroom work.
Our projects form part of the local community, and we have established community
funds at each of our operating wind farms. These funds are typically administered
by members of the local community for the benefit of the immediate area. Uses range
from student sponsorships to pensioners’ outings as well as equipment for schools and
youth groups, village hall repairs and environmental projects.
Our hydro and co-firing sites also support local initiatives and events, particularly
when they relate to environmental, educational and heritage activities.
