Public consultation meetings were held with the local community council in Strontian during April 2005.
As a result of the initial consultation process, several elements of the original scheme design were amended to avoid or reduce potential significant adverse effects. Including:
- Avoiding ecologically sensitive habitats (wet modified bog)
- Discarding plans for new vehicle access track in favour of using existing track
- Reducing the amount of new track to be constructed also reduces both habitat loss and landscape and visual effects
- Locating potential on-site borrow pits to minimise effects on areas of local nature conservation value
A further meeting to discuss construction and community benefits will take place at 5.00pm in Strontian Community Hall on Wednesday April 30th 2008.
