Construction of the scheme began in June 2006. The approximate timeline for the different construction phases was:

• June and July 2006
  Preparation of the pipeline easement.
• August - September 2006
  Installation of pipeline.
• November 2006
  Excavation for the powerhouse commenced.
• March 2007
  Works at intake site commenced with the construction of a river diversion.
• June 2007
  Construction of intake structure began.
• October 2007
  Pipeline pressure test completed.
• February 2008
  Grid Connection.
• April 2008
  First generation.
