The Goole Fields wind farm site lies on intensively-farmed agricultural land south of the A161, south east of the town of Goole in East Riding district of Yorkshire. The wind farm would comprise 16 wind turbines, capable of procing up to 3MW of green power each, giving a maximum output for the wind farm of 48 MW.

The Goole Fields site location offers several advantages as a wind farm location:

• The site is open and windswept
• The local area is very sparsely populated, and the turbines would be well away from nearby dwellings and main roads
• The turbines would coexist with current agricultural practices, providing farm diversification benefits
• The site does not have any landscape or ecological designations

If planning permission were granted the wind farm would make a substantial contribution towards renewable electricity generation in the region - equivalent to powering around 15,000 homes with clean energy. That is more than all the homes in Goole Fields, Goole, Old Goole, Howden, Crowle, Rawcliffe, Swinefleet and the surrounding villages¹.

npower renewables has also committed to provide community fund payments of up to £50,000 per year towards educational, environmental and community projects in the area throughout the life of the wind farm.

The development control committee of East Riding of Yorkshire Council has voted unanimously in favour of granting planning consent for the wind farm, subject to resolving outstanding details on the application.

Due to the large number of applications in the area for wind farms, the regional Government Office has issued an "Article 14" Direction, which instructs the planning authority to refrain from issuing planning permission until cumulative impact issues have been considered.
