Kildrummy: Local Benefits
Employment
One of the significant benefits of a new renewable energy project is the effect on employment and economic activity in the local area during construction. Local businesses are often well-placed to secure contracts.
Recent experience during the construction of the Farr Wind Farm, near Inverness, shows that a quarter of the construction spend could stay in Scotland.
Community Benefits
npower renewables has delivered a range of community benefits in association with its operating wind farms. These measures benefit those communities living closest to each wind farm, and have to date included energy efficiency schemes, schools education programmes, local event sponsorships, equipment for schools, youth groups and sports clubs, and repair works to village halls and other community buildings.
A benefits package would be established by npower renewables in relation to the Kildrummy scheme following consultation with local representatives.
