npower renewables has delivered a range of community benefits in association with its operating wind farms. These measures benefit those communities living closest to each wind farm, and have to date included energy efficiency measures, schools education programmes, local event sponsorships, equipment for schools, youth groups and sports clubs, and repair works to village halls and other community buildings.
To date, the Kirkby Moor Wind Farm Community Fund has donated about
£25,000 to local community initiatives and most recently the fund has sponsored
the Kirkby Moor Fell Race.
Donations have also been made to the Ulverston Victoria High School Orienteering team
towards their world championship trip to Israel, to the Kirkby Community Centre
to upgrade their facilities and a donation towards renovating Loppergarth Playground.
