    Local Benefits

npower renewables has delivered a range of community benefits in association with its operating wind farms. These measures benefit those communities living closest to each wind farm, and have to date included energy efficiency measures, schools education programmes, local event sponsorships, equipment for schools, youth groups and sports clubs, and repair works to village halls and other community buildings.

At Little Cheyne Court, we intend to establish a community fund of £60,000 per year to contribute towards local community, environment and educational purposes. We anticipate that this fund will be managed by a local group or organisation.

Construction and operation of a wind farm brings economic benefits to the area. We must follow current legislation and go though a competitive tender process for all works associated with the construction but it is normal to expect that local suppliers and contractors will be in a strong position to win some of these contracts.

Other opportunities exist including the integration of the project into the tourist economy and ongoing operations and maintenance requirements. Once the wind farm is operational there will be a maintenance crew of 3 to 4 people working on the site.
