Export Cables

The electricity from the wind farm is brought to shore by two export cables, which are connected to the onshore cables in an underground interconnection facility in Rhyl. The export cables were laid using the barge “Pontra Maris” pulling a cable plough, simultaneously laying and burying the cables between the wind farm and the beach. “Pontra Maris” was then moored in the tidal zone allowing the cables to be installed under the beach and connected into the onshore interconnection facility. Installation of the export cables was carried out by specialist marine cabling contractors CNS Subsea Ltd.
