Offshore wind farm projects are technically challenging in many areas and require significant engineering and construction inputs at all stages: development, procurement, construction and commissioning. The role of the Project Manager during the development phase is to ensure that the consented project will be able to be built safely and economically; during the construction phase it is to ensure that construction is managed to meet health and safety, environment, cost, programme and quality targets and meets the requirements of the Project Sponsor.
Working in the Offshore Project team you will responsible for a wide range of activities including
- Development of procurement and construction strategies.
- Development of technical options for the projects and incorporation of these into an Environmental Statement.
- Management of contracts for construction of Meteorological Data Collection Masts, the carrying out of geotechnical and geophysical Site Investigations.
- Management of feasibility and design studies.
- Development of technical specifications, assessment of tenders and of contractor competence.
- Tender technical assessments.
- Construction management.
- Assessment and recording of project risks into the project Risk Register.
Your employment history may include working for large construction companies, power, oil and gas companies or general engineering consultancies and you will have project management experience and good interpersonal skills. You should be qualified to degree level or equivalent in an engineering discipline and have considerable and significant experience of working on large construction projects in multi-discipline teams.
Salary - £40K + plus excellent benefits.

Wind Turbine Technician

Our renewables business operates over 400 MW wind capacity and over 60 MW of hydro across the UK. With a plan in place to rapidly grow our renewables portfolio over the next decade, we are now looking for two dedicated services technicians to maintain and provide further support services to our wind farm portfolio in the UK.
Working as a team, you will use your expertise to perform vital maintenance on our wind turbines every six months. You will also need to be highly mobile as you cover unscheduled maintenance, but also perform a variety of other maintenance and repair activities, carry out turbine inspections, exchange and supervision and oversee component overhaul. This will include the supervision and training of other team members.
You will be a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer at Technician Level or equivalent and will need to bring experience in power generation and wind turbines. As well as having OPITO Offshore sea survival and Working at Height training, you'll have had experience of high voltage electrical switching and be accredited under the British Wind Energy Association wind turbine safety rules.
You'll be used to working at heights of up to 80m in remote locations and will have a thorough understanding of all health, safety and environmental considerations. Finally, you'll bring an analytical approach, the ability to work in isolation and the flexibility to travel away from home.

Marine Renewables Developer
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the npower renewables hydro and offshore development team for a Marine Renewables Developer to help take forward the company's marine development programme.
Npower renewables is a part of RWE Innogy, a leading renewable energy company owned by the RWE Group and is a market leader in renewable energy through its hydro, wind, and biomass businesses.
We are currently developing a near shore wave power scheme in the Western Isles of Scotland, a tidal stream project off Anglesey and are actively considering other marine energy options which the company may wish to develop.
Key responsibilities will include project management and delivery of ongoing marine projects including the current Siadar project, investigation of the potential for additional tidal and wave projects for npower renewables in the UK, identification, resource assessment and potential securing of future marine energy sites, liaison with relevant stakeholders including Scottish government on marine energy policy matters and consultations, SRF, FREDs etc, Scottish PR matters with npower renewables PR team.
As part of the marine team the developer will also input into Marine Strategy, reviewing options for further development in marine energy areas, development and delivery of the marine energy business plan, and reporting to management.
Candidates must be flexible, professional and enthusiastic team players. They must have good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others. As the successful candidate will help lead the marine energy development activities in Scotland they must be able to manage other staff and consultants who are working on marine projects. They must be able to represent the public face of the npower renewables' Scottish marine programme, be this to the public, politicians and civil servants or to the media. They must be highly motivated and self reliant, to work well within a dispersed team.
This is an excellent opportunity with a leading renewables company. The ideal candidate will have an engineering, environmental or planning degree and/or higher degree and/or ability to demonstrate competencies in the successful development of renewables/power industry/water industry/environmental construction schemes. They must also have a high level of computer literacy.
The Post will be based in our Stanley Mills office near Perth. The successful applicant will be expected to travel throughout the UK. Salary will be in the range of £30K to £40K per annum plus benefits.
