On 21 November 2007, RWE announced that it would be pooling its renewables activities into a new company called "RWE Innogy", commencing operations on 1 February 2008.
The new company starts with an existing European renewable energy generation portfolio of around 1,100MW of operating capacity and some further 200MW under construction, around one-third of which is located in the UK.
RWE intends to invest around €1 billion per year from 2008 onwards in expanding its renewables activities.
