Subject: REpower Systems AG secures major order to supply sixteen wind turbines to npower renewables

REpower Systems AG, one of the leading companies in the wind power industry, has secured a major contract to supply sixteen wind turbines to npower renewables, the leading developer and operator of wind farms in the UK and specialist subsidiary of RWE npower.

npower renewables has selected REpower to supply sixteen of its 2 megawatt MM70 wind turbines for the Ffynnon Oer project near Neath, in South Wales. npower renewables will be responsible for providing a grid connection and access to the site, in conjunction with Western Power Distribution and the Forestry Commission respectively. REpower UK - the joint venture between wind turbine company REpower Systems AG and specialist engineering company Peter Brotherhood Ltd - will be responsible for installing the sixteen MM70 turbines at the wind farm.

REpower UK's Managing Director Henning von Barsewisch said: "Winning this project demonstrates further the strength of our technology and the position of the company in the UK. We have only been operating here since September 2003 and to win such a prestigious contract at this early stage in the company's development is excellent."

The Chairman of REpower Systems AG, Prof. Dr. Fritz Vahrenholt, adds: "For REpower, the UK is an important growth market - especially by looking at the target of the British government to produce 15 per cent of electricity from renewable energies by 2015. Securing this significant project with npower is further evidence of the successful implementation of REpower's international strategy of focussing on specific foreign markets in which to deliver its turbines. "

npower renewables' Director Kevin McCullough said; "npower renewables has been placing contracts for the installation and operation of wind farms in the UK for over a decade, the majority of which have been placed with manufacturers who have a long established track record in this field in the UK. We are delighted to be placing the contract to build our Ffynnon Oer Wind Farm with relative new-comer to the British market, REpower UK, who have offered us a product which we believe will optimise the generation opportunities presented by this site. We are particularly pleased that REpower Systems AG has chosen to work in partnership with a British engineering firm - Peter Brotherhood Ltd - to deliver on projects in the UK.

"We hope that the placement of this significant contract will help increase competition in the UK market for the supply and installation of wind turbines, enabling other companies, both from Britain and overseas, to benefit from the opportunities presented by the increasingly active renewables industry in the UK."

The turbines, which comprise a 58 metre (m) tower with a 70 m rotor diameter, will be manufactured by REpower Systems in Germany, with erection and commissioning likely to begin in the last quarter of 2005.

In addition to the installation and commissioning, REpower UK will be responsible for providing the necessary civil and electrical infrastructure, as well as a five-year warranty, operation and maintenance package.

REpower UK Ltd is the exclusive UK sales and service company for REpower Systems' multi-megawatt wind turbines, operating out of headquarters in Edinburgh and a second office in Peterborough, at Peter Brotherhood's prestigious manufacturing facility.
