  Date: 22nd July 2005
Subject: Increase in support for wind farm

Support has increased substantially for plans for a wind farm between Bradwell and Tillingham in Essex, according to the developers behind the scheme, npower renewables,

The latest set of comments show an upturn in approval, with half of the 263 forms declaring support for the scheme. While a quarter are against, and the remainder are undecided or requested further information.

Renewables developer Cath Stevenson, from npower renewables, said: "The recently returned comment forms show that people are clearly concerned about climate change. Increasingly, people are recognising the role that wind farms can play, generating electricity in a green and clean, sustainable way, harnessing natural resources - with none of the carbon dioxide emissions that contribute to global warming."

Meanwhile, a group of residents have taken the opportunity to visit a wind turbine, after npower renewables laid on a free coach trip to the Long Hill Road turbine in March, Cambridgeshire, the closest similarly sized turbine to the proposed scheme in Bradwell.

Ms Stevenson added: "The response from those on the trip was predominantly favourable. Many of those on the trip raised concerns over noise, but admitted afterwards that their fears had been unfounded."

The Bradwell Wind Farm is currently undergoing extensive environmental studies, before a planning application is submitted for an estimated 10 turbines in the Autumn.

npower renewables plan to repeat the visit to the wind turbine if there is sufficient interest. Anyone who would like to take part in a visit is invited to contact npower renewables and register their interest. They can do so by emailing bradwell@npower-renewables.com or phoning Janine Hook on 0118 959 2440. Any suggestions on how the trip could be improved would also be welcome.
