Big changes have been announced by npower renewables to its plans for a wind farm on land to the north of Glynogwr and south of Clydach Vale.
Last year, the company consulted with local residents and politicians about its original proposals to build a wind farm of around 20 wind turbines which the company had called "Pant-y-wal".
However, following on from the feedback gathered by npower renewables at its public exhibitions in Nantymoel, Trebanog and Gilfach Goch last December, the company has reviewed the scheme and decided to make the project much smaller to reduce its impact on the surrounding area.
The project is now so different that npower renewables has given it a new name - Fforch Nest Wind Farm - and has confirmed that the Pant-y-wal proposals are now officially off the cards. The Fforch Nest Wind Farm will cover a smaller area of land and there will be fewer turbines - around 10 to 15.
Tanya Davies, of npower renewables, said: "We have been working hard with local residents and their elected representatives for over a year now to ensure that our final proposals have taken account of the views of local people, and we hope that residents will be pleased with the changes we have made."
npower renewables plans to submit formal planning applications for the Fforch Nest Wind Farm to the County Borough Councils of Rhonnda Cynon Taff and Bridgend in the coming months, and will be holding public exhibitions in the local area so that residents have the opportunity to view the new plans.
Tanya Davies continued, "We will soon be issuing a newsletter to people living in the vicinity of the site to let them know more about the changes, and we look forward to explaining our plans to local residents at the public exhibitions, which we will advertise locally nearer the time."
Information about the Fforch Nest project will also be posted on the npower renewables web site at www.npower-renewables.com/fforchnest.
