With a bulging back-pack Simon Holt arrived at North Devon Council intent on making a very environmentally friendly delivery.

Not only had he made the 176 mile journey from Reading using public transport and old fashioned legwork, but the documents he delivered could see 8000 North Devon homes powered by clean carbon free electricity.

As the Project Manager of the Batsworthy Cross Wind Farm, a nine turbine site, located south of Knowstone and the A361 in North Devon, Mr Holt delivered a planning application, including the Environmental Statement for the wind farm that could power one in five homes in the district.

Mr Holt, said; "It's a fabulous day for the wind farm and we are confident that we are delivering a comprehensive Environmental Statement to North Devon Council. We have had a supportive response to date and would now urge anyone who backs the use of wind power to get behind the project.

"We've delivered the Environmental Statement in an environmentally friendly way in order to promote the message of energy awareness, which goes hand in hand with the use of renewable energy as a way to help in the urgent need to tackle climate change."

The Batsworthy Cross Wind Farm has been in the development phase for over a year. npower renewables has undertaken an extensive public consultation exercise at the site, including a two day public exhibition, parish council and community group meetings, newsletter mailings and one to one meetings with locals and community representatives.

Simon concluded, "We all have a responsibility to help tackle climate change and minimising our carbon footprint by using public transport is a great way to do your bit, but renewable energy is vital if we are to make a significant impact in the ongoing fight against global warming."
