Subject: Look-a-Like rugby stars lead npower renewables ad campaign

Rugby mad youngsters Callum Walters, Jack Powell and Ben Piddington front the latest npower renewables advertising campaign alongside Ospreys stars Duncan Jones, Gavin Henson and Ryan Jones.

Three local youngsters have been given the chance of a lifetime to join their Ospreys rugby idols in a new Regional advertising campaign launched by npower renewables today, Monday 3rd September.

All three are absolute look-alikes of grown up stars Ryan Jones, Gavin Henson and Duncan Jones, and will be seen in the ads on 38 buses across Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend.

The campaign is designed to raise awareness of npower renewables investment in community development initiatives and benefits through its sponsorship of the Ospreys. At the same time, it serves as a reminder that the company's portfolio of renewable energy technologies plays a key role in protecting the Welsh environment long into the future.

The ads show the three children, Callum Walters (2), Jack Powell, (9) and Ben Piddington (12), alongside their Ospreys counterparts, and representing the future of Welsh rugby. All three are keen Ospreys supporters and rugby players, and will directly benefit from the club and school rugby initiatives being delivered through the sponsorship.

npower renewables' Welsh Development manager Tanya Davies explained: "The future of rugby in Wales and of the Welsh environment ultimately belongs to the young, so it seems only appropriate that they should be at the centre of our advertising campaign.

"Rugby is at the core of most Welsh communities, and through our renewed sponsorship of the Ospreys we are helping support clubs, players and fans, young and old alike. Many of these initiatives will help save clubs money, which can be reinvested elsewhere and can help to strengthen the communities that support them. At the same time, our investment in renewable technology, which helps reduce the release of green house gases like carbon dioxide, is vital to protecting the Welsh environment long into the future."

npower renewables sponsorship of the Ospreys, announced last month (Thursday, 2 August), will bring in vital funding for a number of community rugby initiatives which support local clubs, players and fans. Among them are the junior training camps and school rugby development initiatives, designed to offer up more training and opportunities for youngsters to play rugby. Jack, Ben and Callum will all benefit from the training and opportunities available through the sponsorship.

Strategic Development Manager for the Ospreys Paul Thorburn said: "This recent initiative further demonstrates the commitment by both npower renewables and the Ospreys to their communities within the Region, not only in terms of hands on practical support but also financial, and is one of a number that we will be implementing during the coming season."

One of the most popular sponsorship initiatives so far has been a 'kits for clubs' scheme, which offers clubs discounted Kooga kits when purchased through the Ospreys. This initiative is saving clubs across the community up to £400 per team strip, with an overall potential saving in excess of £100,000. In turn, this is freeing up much needed revenue that the clubs can reinvest where it is needed most.

Editors notes:
Look-alikes:
Duncan Jones look-a-like - Callum Walters, 2 years old from Brynteg. Callum started kicking a rugby ball as soon as he could walk, and spends his time playing with his ball and bouncing on his trampoline.

Ryan Jones look-a-like - Ben Piddington, 12, from Ystradgynlais. Ben is a keen rugby player and hopes to develop his skills at his new comprehensive school, Maes-y-Dderwen when he starts in September. He is an Ospreys season ticket holder, and plays football for Penrhos.

Gavin Henson look-a-like - Jack Powell, 9 from Sketty. Jack is a keen rugby player and his idol is Gavin Henson, so was delighted to be picked as his look-a-like. He is looking forward to going into Year 5 in September, when he will be able to play rugby for his school.
