Next Steps
- Completion of the Environmental Impact Assessment and production of the Environmental Statement which will give details of the work that has been undertaken to assess the possible effects the scheme could have on the region. This is due to be completed by the end of 2007.
- A Section 36 (S36) planning application will be submitted to the Scottish Government in early 2008.
- During the 28 days after submission of the S36 Planning Application, the public will have the opportunity to comment formally to the Scottish Government on the proposal.
- If granted a timely planning consent, construction of the scheme could start in 2009.
- In 2010-2011, one of the world's first wave power stations could be fully operational and generating up to 4MW clean electricity to a fifth of the population of Lewis and Harris.
