Local Benefits
The Trysglwyn Wind Farm cost approximately £6 million to build of which about a third
was spent with regional companies for construction and electrical work. During operation
the wind farm is serviced by local technicians and engineers from the mid-Wales operations
centre. The wind farm also provides around £150,000 per year to the Welsh economy in rates,
maintenance and rentals.
A community fund worth about £5,000 per year has been set up by npower renewables and is
administered by local Councillors to support worthwhile local projects. To date, donations
have been awarded to local schools, sports facilities, the community hall and youth group
activities.
